ABOUT

A short fantasy film, and video game teaser, the vibe is very viking/Game of Thrones/Lord of the rings. Set during Fimbulwinter, immediately before Ragnarök.

For most roles it is quite a physical & emotional performance.

There will be the need for a lot of AI on this one due to the nature of the project, mainly background/locations but please read all the AI terms before submitting.

This is a really great spot, gritty and emotional.

Look forward to seeing suggestions.

THE SCOUT

Playing age 27-35
An intelligent, resourceful scout accustomed to moving alone through difficult terrain. He reads the landscape and listens closely, making quick decisions from small details. His physical confidence comes from experience. The scale of the creatures he encounters pushes that experience to its limits, and his fear is immediate, involuntary and unmistakably human.

Seeking a performer with physical agility and endurance who can carry extended sequences through behavior and silent reactions. Intelligence must register through attention and choices. Fear should change with each situation:

Acting here is so key, but also looking for actors, who are skilled in, climbing/hiking/mountain climbing/trail running anything that is a key outdoor sport for these actors, there will be terrain & swamp/mud like conditions, our scout will need to feel comfortable submerged in mud/water.

This role currently only has one line, but we are seeking british/Irish accents including all UK regional variations.

THE SHIELDMAIDEN

Playing age 16-20
MUST BE OVER LICENSE AGE & MUST APPEAR YOUNGER THAN HER AGE.

Our actor will appear as 16, she is visibly youthful and physically less assured, with no training. At 19, she has trained to take her brother’s place as a soldier.

She is a sharp, stubborn young woman with a tomboyish manner and an instinct to resist being pushed aside. Her brother’s death leaves her carrying his sword and a responsibility she chooses to make her own. The time comes where she is tested for everything she has learned, she understands the danger and draws her sword. The actor must let us see her absorb the scale of what is coming, then choose to face it. Her determination has weight because she knows what violence costs.

The three-year change should register through posture, breath and weapon handling.

At sixteen her reactions are more exposed and impulsive; at nineteen she can hold herself steady long enough to act. The same intelligence and stubbornness must remain recognizable. Strong silent acting is essential to carry affection, grief and resolve through very little or no dialogue.

THE PROPHET

Male playing age 65-80

Looking for a wethered character actor. Who will appear Blind (see ref images) Both blind and non blind actors are welcome, contact lenses may be required.

A weary traveler sheltering in a dark corner, with a staff, a ragged bundle and barely enough strength to hold his soup. Hunger, cold and fatigue are real in his body. He appears to be someone the fortress can easily overlook. His presence gradually commands the room.

His prophetic gift is real, but he never identifies himself as a seer. Authority comes from quiet certainty. The visions should feel like things he is witnessing, with pauses shaped by what he perceives and the effort of speaking. A performer who can hold attention through stillness and a worn, intimate voice.

His attention follows sounds and silences in the room; the portrayal of blindness should

remain consistent. When the horn sounds, his lack of surprise gives his words new weight.

Wig, facial hair maybe even prosthetics required.

THE BLACKSMITH

Male Playings 25-45
This person ideally is little in height, but still burly! (Does not need to be a burly as the AI images below)

We are very keen to cast a little person in this role, but happy to see actors up to 5’5

An armory blacksmith who makes weapons, shields and armor. He is proud of his strength and his usefulness, with a coarse manner and little patience for talk. His hands should suggest years of skilled work. Toughness is central to his identity, he would hate to think that anyone saw him any differently but inside he is scared and he resents being seen afraid.

Convincing physical strength, skilled hands, and a blunt, lived-in voice. The performance needs pride, defensive anger, and precise silent reactions. His final decision should feel difficult and private. The essential acting challenge is to let us recognize his shame while he is still trying to conceal it.
